On the first of August of 2012, during a conference at Guijo de Santa Bárbara, the representatives of the land owners and the district councils of the terrains at stake, being Tornavacas, Guijo de Santa Bárbara, Jarandilla de la Vera, Losar de la Vera y Viandar de la Vera, all integral parts of the Hunting reserve “La Sierra” in Extremadura, established an association for the protection of the constitutional law 1/2002, from the 22 of March, with the name ASOCIACIÓN DE LA RESERVA DE CAZA " LA SIERRA" DE GREDOS DE EXTREMADURA.

The villages that integrate the Reserve expect many tourist attractions. The closeness to the monastery of Yuste where Carlos V has spent his last months is especially outstanding.
